I wanted to create an athletic look without going the obvious route of including a baseball cap, sneakers, a jersey, or a t-shirt with a team logo on it. I figured why not borrow inspiration from the game's rule keepers who are given the smallest amount of attention, the referees! I also wanted to mix different patterns from the animal print of the Gianvito Rossi pumps, to the design on the MeDusa clutch bag, and the lines on the Kenzo shirt, down to the bias cut Sophia Kokosalaki skirt. I want all of these different pieces to scream luxury. I want this look to give off the impression of someone who loves statement pieces and expensive taste but it's done in a classy way because the pieces aren't 'loud', you know? So she will appear humble even while looking glamorous, and luxurious.

I can't remember recognizing a trait in another person of complete humility, and super shyness offset with bold and unabashed confidence displayed so clearly as with Nicole Behari's personality. She's all of 5'1" and packs as much boldness and commands attention as an ancient ruler would (maybe she ruled a kingdom in a previous life?) I watched an interview of hers recently and I was so shocked when I saw how shy and reserved she actually is. The characters she portrays onscreen are bold and unafraid and I'd assume that she was a lot like them. Just as I was beginning to doubt that this was the same Nicole, the persona that I was familiar with suddenly appeared. The confident, fearless, outspoken woman popped up in the interview as she was explaining her role in Sleepy Hollow, the tv show she stars in. Yet, even as I watched my mind was still boggled at how she is! Director Steve McQueen whom she worked with on the film Shame says that she is very shy but to actually witness her almost painstaking shyness and overall awkwardness while maintaining the highest level of confidence is something that I'm all too familiar with. I couldn't believe she is like this as well. It definitely humanizes her and reminds us that she's just like us. I think that - and maybe I speak from a little bit of experience but how better can one manage or balance the shyness than with the highest level of confidence. I think from an outside perspective it may seem a bit strange but it works because deep down you know there's really no good enough reason for you to have those feelings of insecurity.
Ever heard of the saying 'even when a girl is as shy as a mouse, you have to beware of the tiger within.' This quote to me sums up the perception that I have of Nicole's shy-confidence. I'll feel like an office girl in the 60s with this dress on, I'm thinking about Mad Men style. Or, maybe I'll go for the school girl look, knee-high socks and all, I'm not too enthused about that idea though. I actually see myself in more of a structured sheath version, with black pumps and a black satchel, I think that would be my take on this style.

Stay warm and comfy, casual and dressed up. The sweater dress can take you from a professional environment to a social one and all the other places in between. I like the double purpose of this garment. If you want to wear a dress, then wear one. If it's too cold to wear the particular dress you want, grab a sweater version. Simple.

Sometimes I prefer a dress with a fitted bodice and a flare skirt, instead of an actual shirt and a skirt separately. Maybe what I really like is the one step process of getting dressed instead of the two that it takes to put on the latter, but then again I love the feel of a garment that was made to cling to you and at the same time allow you room to move freely. I was immediately inspired upon seeing her dress so of course I had to recreate her look. My version; Preen by Thorton Bregazzi grey dress, Salvatore Ferragamo salmon pink sandals, and Flynn fergie clutch. When I was creating this outfit I knew that the only way I would like it or even considering wearing it was only if the colours of the shoes and bag were neutral and weren't similar. I like an outfit where each of the pieces can stand on their own.

"That industry [Hollywood] expects you to prove yourself over and over again. Do I stay doing this, or do I raise my daughter and live surrounded by people who love me? Wasn't even really a choice." Lisa has said on making the decision to step away from the spotlight. Yet she still wants to express herself through creative media she's said "I have a desire to create more film, more beauty, more art, more love, but I don't feel desperate. It's not about creating or building a career." This statement proves even more that her "alternative lifestyle" wasn't created as part of a brand that she's trying to sell. That's why I'm certain that her style is an extension of her true self. So whenever I see a photo of her, its like I'm seeing an imprint of who she truly is on the outside.

Neutral shades can create the most classic outfits, look at all black looks, grey monochrome, and black, tan, and black/white stripes, just to name a few. The peach dress with the brown accessory; bag, hat, belt, shoes can be added into those categories as well. The colour combo is timeless. "I'm a lot more interested in style than fashion—style is what makes us who we are."
Solange has developed her signature style quite some time ago and over the past few years people have started to take notice. Known for her natural hairstyles, and printed ensembles she's crafted a look that's so distinctly her that if you were to see someone dressing similarly you'd immediately think of Solange. Some would label her style as loud, or bold but I see it just as I would someone who's known for rockin' jeans and a t-shirt. In her Refinery 29 interview she was asked if her style were a song which would it be, she responded "For sure Q-Tip's - Vivrant Thang". So you can jam to that song as you read this.
Now, behold the awesome style I speak of.
I was scrolling through a list of dresses made from human hair and I was a bit weirded out at first by the natural looking hair designs, but then the more I saw, the more the idea started to grow on me — ha! no pun intended. I actually prefer the designs that are made using brightly coloured hair, and would even wear a dress with a little faux human hair included somewhere in the design, or a mini dress similar to the blue one. I would even wear a full length dress, similarly to the purple one, if it was designed with a minimalist approach. If I can manage to look timeless, I don't mind injecting a little dose of weird, and strange, and different into my style.

The beginning of rebellion in the 1960s, especially in North America probably started with fashion and then led to lifestyle changes mainly amongst the younger generation. Sometimes I wish I could have experienced the movement and the fashionable times back then, but since time travel doesn't exist, not that I know of anyways, this look will have to do for now. I love unusual glamour. The dresses without the frills, and bows, and trains aren't given their due as much as the ones with those designs, but how can this be denied. The strut, the gown, the hair and the overall ferocity, this is a great low-key glamour look. By the way, look at the vent in the background, it looks like she's holding a small clutch bag or is it just me?

There are people who are naturally confident and there are others who practice confidence until they perfect it and something tells me that actress Tika Sumpter was probably born with it and if not she definitely cultivated this strong sense of self from very early on. As a little girl her mother helped to instill in her valuable lessons like perseverance, strong will, and determination. You can tell that her mother influenced her a great deal. She even sent out a tweet saying "I knew I was fly because that's what my mama told me. Society didn't get to me first. My mom did. You have to love yourself first." This quote was in regards to societal misconceptions of beauty. I read an interview of hers recently in which she credits her mother for raising her with fire and confidence and she says three simple words in the interview when speaking on her time in Hollywood, and I feel like she's doing more than reaching out when she says them. I feel that with these words she wants to take you under her wings and nurture you until you truly believe that you are greater than your highest expectations of yourself. The words that she spoke - I feel like it is a must, it is a requirement that I make of myself to add this particular quote to my list of mantras. Whatever your journey in life, wherever you're headed in your goals, education or career; you will have to make stops on your journey. During these breaks, when self-doubt begins to creep in and you feel like you don't belong, or you're made to feel like an outsider say these words to yourself

A long a-line, floral skirt is one of the sexiest modest clothing items that a woman can own. It's almost like this skirt was designed to mimic the rhythm of your body. The was it moves along with you is incredible. Same with the way it sways and swings around your knees as you walk, and falls down your legs when you sit. I remember buying a couple pairs of bell bottom jeans a few years back when skinny jeans were the new 'it' item and my sister jokingly said that she didn't want to be seen on the street with me when I was wearing them! Let me tell you I wore them and she had no choice but to be seen with me, and of course I looked amazing, just like Nicole ;) That memory came to me as I was creating this outfit after playing around with a few different bell bottom style ideas. I have a picture in my mind of a beautiful dress that falls right at the knee where the trousers underneath begins to flare out. The image I have is a side view of someone in mid stride and as they're walking you can clearly see the difference between the blue Monsoon sheath dress and the exaggerated flared bottom of the Gareth Pugh trousers. These Giuseppe Zanotti sandals are high enough to keep the trousers off the ground but the trousers are long enough to keep the sandals hidden, so the Alice + Olivia clutch bag would be the only visible accessory. I was thinking of including diamond chandelier earrings too, they would be a magnificent finish to this high fashion look.
