I got this dress a couple years ago, and the first time I wore it (with a fitted black t-shirt and flat sandals) was last week Monday to the airport when my aunt and I went to pick up my mom and my sister who were coming back from vacation in the Caribbean. This dress falls just above the ankle, it is super comfortable and the simplicity of the style lends to it being a versatile piece. You know when you buy an item and you envision yourself wearing it in the most glamorous way, or at least that's how I envision all of the pieces of clothing I buy. Yet, reality isn't always as glamorous and you can't wear heels all the time, so you dress as glamorous as your setting permits, even if it isn't what would necessarily be classified as vogue glamour. This is a vision I have of how I want to wear this dress; with a black Prada bag, gold Louboutin heels, a gold watch, hoop earrings, necklace, and even the addition of a couple rings would look amazing with this outfit, because aside from the pop of purple lip colour, the outfit is mostly shades of black and grey, and with neutral colours you can accessorize as much as you want and not look over the top. I paired the kimono cardigan with this figure hugging dress because I love to balance out a tight piece of clothing with something loose. The feel of the over sized silk cardigan in contrast to the tighter cotton dress is the perfect combination of style and comfort for me. I love when my clothes feel good on me.
Mina of Glitter in my Veins will also be tomorrow's Sunday's school sophisticat.

I took these pictures about two minutes ago from my window. I was looking up and this is what I saw.
The clouds look tangible above the sun, like someone put them there a second before I took the picture. The more I look, the more it looks like they're hiding something behind them. I love how breathtaking nature can be. Profound feelings are derived from simple pleasures and right now I'm reminded not to take anything for granted. .... I'm feeling relaxed and inspired in this moment...

One of my favourite poems
I live for those who love me
By: George Linnaeus Banks
I love for those who love me,
For the Heav’n that smiles above me,
And awaits my spirit, too;
For all human ties that bind me,
For the task by God assigned me,
For the bright hopes left behind me,
And the good that I can do.
And awaits my spirit, too;
For all human ties that bind me,
For the task by God assigned me,
For the bright hopes left behind me,
And the good that I can do.
I live to hail the season,
By bards and seers foretold;
When men shall live by reason,
And not alone for gold;
When man to man united,
And every wrong thing righted,
The whole world shall be lighted,
As Eden was of old.
By bards and seers foretold;
When men shall live by reason,
And not alone for gold;
When man to man united,
And every wrong thing righted,
The whole world shall be lighted,
As Eden was of old.
I live for those who love me,
For those who know me true,
For the Heav’n that smiles above me,
And awaits my spirit, too;
For the wrong that needs resistance,
For the cause that lacks assistance,
For the future in the distance,
For the good that I can do.
For those who know me true,
For the Heav’n that smiles above me,
And awaits my spirit, too;
For the wrong that needs resistance,
For the cause that lacks assistance,
For the future in the distance,
For the good that I can do.

I thrifted this dress over a year ago and I still haven't worn it yet. I haven't had the right occasion to wear it to, so it's been put away ever since I got it. It's below knee length and it's got parallel gold buttons about four inches apart down the front. It's a very simple dress with a beautiful print. This is the vision I have of how I will wear it; nude nails and lips, and a pink clutch similar to this Alexander McQueen bag — which is from the same brand as my Cinderella dream shoes. These sandals are so beautiful; simple, feminine, and sexy, just like the dress. They bring out the pink in the pattern and highlight the other colours, they are the perfect compliment to this vintage piece. Miss Dior Cherie perfume would be the perfect addition to complete this outfit, ...
*UPDATE: I wore this dress for the first time in October 2014 and since it was cold out I wore it with knee-high boots and a black sweater, I still plan on styling it like this creation though :)

You've most likely heard music from the band, Sade, named after it's lead singer; who has one of the most recognizable face, and voice in music. A minimalist, shy, private, talented... a legend. Her look is that of the silent screen star that never was, the film noir beauty that never existed, and the glamour star of the 50's and 60's who never graced the silver screen, because if she existed in those eras we would have missed the opportunity to have her with us. But as she exists now, her look is reminiscent of the days back when. You feel a nostalgic tug inside for a time past when you look at Sade. The mastery of her look is the effortlessness and the simplicity of style.

It's been a while since I've done a style sophisti"cat" post, but from now on I promise I will try to bring some daring inspirations in style every Wednesday. Starting with Margarita of A Doll Without Style who perfectly embodies a style sophisticat in this photo.
