I drew inspiration from Dascha Polanco's style when I was creating this look. This dress seems like something she would wear, and it would accentuate her figure very well. The M&S Collection dress is actually longer on the model that it appears to be in the above photo, which is a good thing because it shows off more of the body in the dress. The mesh Louboutins and matching gold Anya Hindmarch clutch were easy decisions to make in terms of which accessories to pair the dress with. Lastly, Dascha's hair and makeup? The perfect finishing touch. Dascha's photo: Jonathan Leibson/Getty Images.
Ingredients:
- 1 small watermelon
- 1 kiwi, peeled and sliced
- 1/2 cup of blueberries (**the kiwi and blueberries are toppings. Feel free to use your favorite fruits!)
- 1 cup of greek yogurt
- 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
2. Slice both ends off the watermelon.
3. Lay the watermelon on it’s end. From top to bottom, cut off the watermelon skins.
4. Work your way around the watermelon, until you have a nice round shape with just the pink flesh.
5. Remove the yogurt from the freezer.
6. Lay the watermelon on a plate, and start to spread the yogurt mix onto the watermelon. (Some of the yogurt may start dripping down the sides. Totally fine. At the end you can simply wipe around the edges to make it look neat.)
7. Decorate your yogurt frosted watermelon with fruit. Slice it up and enjoy!
**This cake is best when eaten right after it’s prepared. If you don’t plan on serving immediately, place in the freezer for up to an hour to maintain sturdiness.

What can I say about this look? Classic. I love this style because it reflects light – the sun's rays for instance – very well. Whenever you see someone outside who is dressed in this monochromatic fashion and they seem to have an ethereal glow, it's because the sun's ray are reflecting off of the fabric of their clothes. This also applies when the person is out of direct sunlight but the setting that they are in is very bright; eg: see the first photo. Aside from the traditional meanings associated with a woman wearing white on her wedding day, this may be one of the reasons why the white wedding gown has been such a popular choice for a long time, the 3rd photo is a vintage inspired bridal look and it wonderfully illustrates my point.

I wanted simple pieces to create a classic look with a retro edge, something that could be a Sunday's school look, yet something you could wear to a business engagement, and that's why I selected the Burda Style top to go with the H&M pleat skirt, and accessorized with the 11 Foxy color block bag and Michael Kors oxford-inspired heels. I usually come up with a face to go with the outfits pretty quickly, but for some reason with this one, because the idea that I had was so specific it took me forever to find someone who I thought would rock this look as if they styled it themself. It wasn't until I saw this picture of Amber Rose that I thought... 'yes!'. Everything about her look matches the classic/retro elements of this outfit perfectly. Btw, Amber has an online clothing boutique called Rose and Ono where the sizes in merchandise range from XS-3XL.

This style is so pretty! I already mentioned that box braids (Beyonce: top-left) and single braids (Eva Marcille: top-right) can serve as a great protective hairstyle, and so can Senegalese twists (last 2 photos). Even though these are well known maintenance hairdos you can also get this done just because it is super versatile and looks amazing. The Senegalese up-do and box braids high bun is a regal style fitting for high priestesses and empresses, look at these ladies, stunning, right? If you want to get Havana twists, box braids or Senegalese twists done, seek out a stylist who is knowledgeable about braiding hair (so you don't experience a lot of damage) and can provide you with information about how to care for your hair in this style. You can also buy several packs of the braiding hair and apply the extensions yourself if you know how to, and save yourself the CO$T of getting them done by someone else. Platinums, ice whites, silvery champagnes... there is an obsession with, and a fetishization of blondes in popular culture. Could be because the idea of the blonde bombshell has been promoted as the only ideal, and thus celebrated as the most desirable for a very long time...

The same, different, similar, identical; each word can describe a particular aspect of Ebba and Carla's outfit. They both chose the identical blue/white floral IvyRevel dress, similar white sneakers, and coats, the same pose of putting one leg before the other, but both ladies also chose an accessory that is different from the other; a yellow bag and white headphones. Carla is holding the bag and Ebba is wearing the headphones. Ebba's blog: Ebbazingmark, Carla's blog: The fashion through my eyes. photos: lookbook
Button up shirt + Button down skirt. With the alignment of the shirt's and skirt's buttons there's a sort of uniformity approach, an exactness, a great attention to detail, a match of sorts; puzzle pieces fitting together, a single linear detail, a magnetic pull of opposite pieces, two creations meant to be together, different but the same... these are generally my thoughts whenever I pay attention to the intentional pairing of a button-up shirt and a button-down skirt. Btw, I love this style of skirt so much.

"When many of us picture Native Americans, we see a stately chief, standing tall wearing a large feathered headdress. The headdress is a very important part of Native American culture. Typically made of beautiful bird feathers, it is more symbolic than anything else. The Sioux were thought to be one of the first Native American tribes to use these head pieces. Not everyone among the tribe could wear one, however. The Native American headdress was reserved for the most powerful and influential among the tribe. Perhaps there is meaning then as to why we usually picture the chief wearing one. It is a little known fact that Native American headdresses were not made completely in one sitting. In fact, each time the chief, warrior, or other important tribe member committed a brave act, a feather was added. Therefore, the more feathers in the headdress, the braver and sometimes much more ominous the wearer was. In certain tribes, the brave act itself was not enough. The warrior would have to prove himself by fasting for several days and meditating the entire time to show his steadfastness. This fact alone makes the significance of the Native American headdress very important.
