Celebrity,

WE ARE HERE

Saturday, September 27, 2014 N. R. 0 Comments

The day I wrote this song, I was sitting in a circle of people of all ages and we were asked, “Why are you here.” Why am I here?? This really hit me on a deep level. I realized no one had ever asked me that question before.
As I prepare to give birth to a new child, I can't help and think about the world I'm bringing my baby into. No matter where we come from, when we see the state of the world today, we can all feel the growing frustration and desire to make a difference. And we all have a voice - we just need to know how to make it heard.
I have a vision that I believe is more than a dream, that I know can be our reality.
I believe in an empowered world community built on the true meaning of equality – where we are all considered one people, regardless of race, religion, gender, zip code, belief system or sexual orientation.
I believe all of our voices should be heard, so that our representation reflects our population. We need our leadership to reflect an equal balance of the gifts that both men and women have to offer.
I believe in a world where every child born receives a quality education – where their unique gifts are nurtured so that they may be a beneficial presence in this world.
I believe in mutual respect and cooperation among all peoples and all nations. It is time to end all forms of racial injustice for our black brothers and sisters and all people of color.
I believe in an end to the prison industrial complex in America and a renewed justice system that is based on fairness and truth.
I believe in universal global health care based on Integrative Medicine, so that our bodies are acknowledged and treated as one system, and we can help control the spread of diseases like AIDS, Malaria, TB and Ebola.
I believe we have an ability to end poverty, oppression, and hopelessness that often breeds despair, terror, and violence.
I believe in common sense gun laws that serve to protect children and families and society from unnecessary violence.
I believe in Peace & Love & Unity.
I believe that this vision can be a reality.
And, it’s not about me. It’s about WE.
Together we can give birth to a kinder and more peaceful world for ALL children.
Our souls were brought together so that we can love each other sister, brother. We Are Here. We are here for all of us. That's why #WeAreHere.

Sent with Light,
Alicia Keys

"Keys is expecting her second child in December [2014] — the movement arises partly from her concern about the world that the child will inherit — so she decided to be photographed nude with a peace sign on her belly as an image of amity to kick off the effort.
“It’s time to get people’s attention,” she said. “People won’t be able to ignore this visual.” She plans to kick off the We Are Here Movement on Sunday at the Social Good Summit[September 21-22], a grass-roots version of the annual United Nations General Assembly.
Keys says she will encourage her fans to support 12 specific groups: All Out, a gay rights organization; CARE, the aid group; Equal Justice Initiative, which combats racial inequity in the criminal justice system; the Future Project, which empowers high school students in America; Girl Rising, which supports girls’ education around the world; Keep a Child Alive, which helps children affected by H.I.V. and AIDS; Moms Rising, which supports universal prekindergarten, maternal leaves and tighter gun laws; Oxfam, which fights global poverty; Partners in Health, which tackles disease worldwide; the Trevor Project, which prevents suicide among gay and lesbian youths; the Trayvon Martin Foundation, which fights racial profiling; and War Child, which supports children in conflict areas.
To get the effort started, Keys is donating $1 million of her own money, to be divided among the 12 groups, and she hopes that her fans will make their own donations directly to the charities. A website, WeAreHereMovement.com, provides information."

Believe you can change the world. Let’s do it together!

WE ARE HERE to manifest an empowered world community built on the true meaning of equality – where we are all considered One People, regardless of race, gender, zip code, belief system or sexual orientation.

WE ARE HERE to make sure every voice is heard, so that our representation reflects our population. We need our leadership to reflect an equal balance of the gifts that both men and women have to offer.

WE ARE HERE to ensure that every child born into this world receives a quality education – where their unique gifts are nurtured so that they may be a beneficial presence in this world.

WE ARE HERE to stand for mutual respect and cooperation among all peoples and nations. We must end all forms of racial injustice for our black brothers and sisters and all people of color.

WE ARE HERE to help end the prison industrial complex in America and reform our justice system so that it is based on fairness and truth.

WE ARE HERE to help bring about universal global health care based on Integrative Medicine, so that our bodies are treated as one system, and we can help control the spread of diseases like AIDS, Malaria, TB and Ebola.

WE ARE HERE because we want to put an end to the poverty, oppression, and hopelessness that often breeds despair, terror, and violence.

WE ARE HERE to help enact common sense gun laws that protect children, families, and society from unnecessary violence.

WE ARE HERE to choose Unity, Love, Forgiveness and Compassion and to acknowledge our individual and collective POWER to change the status quo – and to do so Peacefully.

It doesn’t have to be a dream anymore.

Let’s create a coalition of all of us who want to make a difference in the world and partner with great organizations that are already doing the work on the ground.  Let’s pool our resources; mind-share, heart-share, engage and educate one another on what’s going on in our neck of the woods that we want to bring attention to, so that we may all be inspired to take action, so that our voices can be heard and real change can happen.  It starts with ourselves, and then our families, and then our communities and then the world.

Together, we can do it, because WE ARE HERE.

WE ARE HERE to do our part. We have taken great care in selecting organizations that we trust. We know these groups are doing effective and compassionate work that we can support in a tangible way.  Starting with this song, We Are Here will be spotlighting very specific initiatives with each of our partners outlining exactly how you can get involved and make a real difference!

I also want to hear from you about issues in your community. Together, we can bring attention and change to the places that need it most, for the betterment of all. Together, we can support each other in changing local laws and policies into ones that serve everyone. Through awareness and education we can come together and encourage our leaders and the global public to join US. It’s Me + You on a mission to create a world where all children have the right to be free and equal and safe.

Together the WE ARE HERE Movement can give birth to a kinder and more peaceful world for ALL children.

“Our souls were brought together so that we can love each other sister, brother. We are here.  We are here for all of us. That’s why we are here.”

In Light,

Alicia Keys
